چکیده

Methods The description of four cases. The AAT deficiency was found in three brothers (two with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), one reactive arthritis) and in a girl with JIA. While looking for possible cause(s) for hypertransaminasemia, the girl’s and one of the brother’s serum level of AAT was found to be below the normal range; the analysis of the other two brothers was ordered specially. In all cases the gene diagnostics was performed.

Alpha- 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency in Children: Pulmonary Involvement

Introduction: α1-antitrypsin deficiency (α1-ATD) is one of the most common genetic disorders in white race, a usual cause of liver disease in children, and hepatopulmonary involvement in children and adult. The aim of this case description is presenting a child with early lung disease without liver parenchymal disorder. Case presentation: We describe a 13 year old boy because of exertional dysp...

Its main function is inhibition of neutrophil elastase, a non-specifi c protease released by activated or dying neutrophils. In individuals with healthy concentrations of α1 antitrypsin, the fragile alveolar structures of the lung paren...

Inflammatory markers in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients with different α1 antitrypsin genotypes

INTRODUCTION Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been recently defined as a systemic pulmonary inflammatory disease, and congenital α1 antitrypsin deficiency is one of the well-established genetic risk factors for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The aim of our study was to evaluate the possible associations of α1 antitrypsin with inflammatory markers - CRP, sCD14, TNF-α, sTN...

-antitrypsin misfolding

We were all taught that proteins have to fold correctly to be active and that the primary sequence of amino acids acts as the ’blueprint‘ for successful, productive folding. in recent years, we have also learnt how sensitive that blueprint is to change. For example, a single amino-acid change in the protein sequence, or a subtle change in temperature at which folding takes place, can lead to th...

Determination of Alpha 1-Antitrypsin Phenotypes and Genotypes in Iranian Patients

Alpha 1-antitrypsin (AAT) or alpha 1-protease inhibitor (PI) is the principal inhibitor of proteolytic enzyme in serum. Its phenotypic variability has been reported to be associated with liver, lung diseases and rheumatoid arthritis in humans. There is much documentation about high risk phenotypes of PI in some regions of the world, however, there are no reliable reports on these phenotypes and...
